This take on a summer favourite has less starch and an added sugary surprise.
2 medium sized rutabagas
canola oil for deep frying
1 tsp seasoning salt
1 tsp brown sugar
1 Tbsp hemp seed hearts
1. Thoroughly wash rutabagas and remove any dark spots.
2. Cut rutabagas into french fry sized sticks and soak in water for a few minutes. Let drain in a colander.
3. Pre-heat deep fryer to 300° F and cook for 7 minutes, stirring once or twice.
4. Once fully cooked, immediately toss with seasoning salt, hemp seed hearts and brown sugar.
